On the morning of this shoot Rachel called me to tell me Rosie wasn’t feeling great. Our grand plan of heading into the woods for a winter family picnic was out the window and we needed a new plan. So we thought about an indoor picnic. All said and done, the kids room was cleared out, places set and everything decorated with the most exquisite florals. After all, Rachel of Wild Daughter is one of the most talented florists I’ve ever had the honour of meeting.

What a day! This little family of four is as cute as they come. Rosie helping out setting the plates, Jasper being curious about everything and Earl leading the birthday song. Because this wasn’t just any family shoot: it was the one year celebration of Rachel’s business, and she wanted to thank her family for all their support with this little shindig. And what better way to celebrate than with an absolutely scrumptious and decadent cake, handmade marshmallows and some hot chocolate?
