These two, how to even start? I knew even from that first email that this was going to be one rad couple. There was puns and forests and fabulosity everywhere. And after our engagement session (which you can check out here) I was keen as a bean. And then February rolled around. Nadia, being a graphic designer, had of course poured her heart into the details and everything was thought through (down to the list of family photos I received ahead of time on their very own wedding branded stationery!) and we just enjoyed the ride. From the preps outside of Olinda, the sweetest first look (oh the excitement on their faces!) to the relaxed garden ceremony which was followed by merriment and a kicking dance party, it was everything I expected and then some!
Coming home from a friend’s engagement a few years ago, we discussed when we’d get married. We looked at when our anniversary was next on a Saturday and found our 10th anniversary was on Saturday the 6th of February 2016. So, later when it came to booking a date, it was the natural choice.
Our day was a point at which to pause, take stock and celebrate the last 10 years whilst looking to the future. We wanted to be surrounded by all the most important people in our lives and to have a good time. Our wedding was everything we wanted and nothing else – we felt no pressure to conform to traditions, taking what we liked and leaving aside what we didn’t. We got ready together, we were driven to the venue by our mother/future mother-in-law and our event was a fun garden ceremony followed by a casual reception and of course, dancing to some dirty R&B tunes.
We only chose suppliers who we felt were a good fit – people who we could easily invite over for a drink or three. Stina was just that; quick to respond, always jovial and with a great sense of humour, we found her endearing right from the start. We fell in love with Stina’s beautifully-lit candid style. Her photos documented our event from start to finish and even though Stina was always clicking away, we never felt like a camera was being shoved in our faces. Our wedding photographs are more than just a beautiful collection of images (and they are supremely beautiful); they tell the story of our day. We are so pleased to have such wonderful mementos of our wedding.
