Even though these days everyone has at least one mobile or camera handy at all times, we rarely end up with great photos of ourselves and our family. I know, I’m guilty of this too. And even though I like a good sel e as much as the next person, there’s just something special about having some rad pictures of your family that don’t have that crazy grainy look and that re ect not just the way you all look, but the personality of your family. My family sessions usually last up to one hour. We together nd locations that suit the look that you’re going for. This could in your bedroom, living room or backyard, or maybe your local park, or along the beach where you play all summer. I make sure it’s relaxed and fun and I’ll get a bunch of shots that will look fab in an album or that you can print and frame for your mother-in-law for Christmas.
If you read through all of this and go HECK YEAH, then it’s time to get things in order. To lock in a date I require a signed contract + a 50% retainer. We often settle on the date for the shoot just around the booking time (slightly before or slightly after)
02. Figure out where to shoot
Once we’re all booked in our next step is to figure out the location. When you book you’ll get to fill in a few questions, and based on that we’ll start brainstorming until we figure it out together.
It could be in your house, a local park, or just an awesome looking location.
03. Preparations
Before the shoot I’ll send you a questionnaire to ll in about your family so I know who everyone is + their favourite things. This makes it easy for me to get to know everyone and nd things for you to do to get comfortable in front of the camera. I also often go out location scouting to the place we’re shooting at before
the session, so I have a plan for the session and don’t have to get stuck looking for the perfect spot or the best light.
03. The shoot!
We spend up to one hour together (or more on request), getting shots at home, in the park/beach/forest or somewhere that has meaning to you. Usually we think up your favourite Saturday activity with your family and I follow along and document all the moments that happen within that.
04. Sneak peeks the next day
You get the first few photos the very next day! Cause who can wait? I surely can’t!
05. All photos within 2 weeks
The rest of the photos take a little bit longer: you’ll have them all, print-ready + web-ready, within 2 weeks of the wedding. You get them all via an online gallery.
